TU Wien

Prof. H. Rechberger, together with C. Roithner and O. Cencic, from TU Wien, Institute for Water Quality and Resource Management, has written a paper on the topic of a novel indicator for the recyclability of products. The recyclability of a product depends on three spheres: 1) the product itself with its material composition, 2) the waste management system and 3) the national economy. All three spheres must be considered for a product as a whole in order to be assessed as recyclable.

For the transition to a circular economy, products should be designed in a way that allows extensive material recovery and easy disassembly.
