ECESP Coordination Group Meeting 2019
17th October 2019 – Brussels

CEC4Europe is one of the 24 members of the Coordination Group of the European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform, founded by the European Economic and Social Committee and the European Commission in order to implement the EU circular economy package.

The European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform offers an interactive space to exchange good practices, strategies, knowledge as well as dialogue and to interact. (https://circulareconomy.europa.eu/platform/en).

The annual coordination group meetings allow members to report on their activities in the respective member states throughout the year which are later summed up in the Annual Activity Report.

There is also room to discuss possible collaborations and synergies, future developments of the ECESP, future challenges as well as next steps for circular economy.

On 17th of October, the Coordination Group met for the 3rd time. Ladeja Godina Košir was re-elected as Chair.

Also part of the agenda was discussing the repositioning of the structure and the objectives of the Platform in view of the new European Parliament and incoming European Commission, as well as linking with other initiatives in the field of biodiversity, industrial policy and climate objectives. The incoming President of the European Commission, Ursula van der Leyen, has already stressed that the Second Circular Economy Action Plan will be an important part of the so-called “Green New Deal” and a key driver for achieving a Europe without pollution.

The CG members discussed three key questions to set priorities for the final year of their mandate:

  1. How do you assess your CG membership and contribution to ECESP to date?
  2. What should the CG prioritise in the final year of its mandate (incl. conference 2020)?
  3. Which activities do you envisage for 2020 that could contribute to the Coordination Group?
